Magna via Francigena Palermo-Agrigento



Un percorso da fare a piedi che attraversa un antico itinerario medievale che da Palermo attraversa diversi paesi come Santa Cristina Gela, Corleone, Prizzi, Castronovo di Sicilia, Cammarata, Sutera, Racalmuto e Joppolo Giancaxio. L'itinerario si conclude ad Agrigento.

The Magna Via Francigena is the common name of an ancient road and pilgrim route running from Palermo to Agrigento, though it is usually considered to have its starting point much further away, in the cathedral city of Palermo. As such, the route passes through Santa Cristina Gela, Corleone, Prizzi, Castronovo di Sicilia, Cammarata, Sutera, Racalmuto, Joppolo Giancaxio, Agrigento. The route was known as the "Magna Via Francigena" ("the road that comes from France"). In mediaeval times it was an important road of pilgrimage route.
